In the dark times ahead the memory of your kindness will help me to survive from the injustice of life imposed on me by others. Enrico, May 2007, UK
Enrico Mariotti is a 66 year old gentleman originally from Italy.
His life has been ruined twice, firstly by the Italian authorities who despite many inconsistencies convicted him on the word of a supergrass. His adopted country of long standing, he first worked in England in the 1950’s, decided that this hearsay did not amount to enough for him to be extradited and so he began his life again.
Recently it was ruined for the second time when he was returned to Italy without the benefit of any recourse to an appeal system. His sentence of 26 years is of course effectively a death sentence.
This website will keep up the story of Enrico up to date. We have a transcript of the charges both for and against him. There is a view of a ‘Bigger Picture’ regarding justice in th EU by Torquil Dick-Erickson.
There are links to newspaper articles from the UK and Italy, and messages of support from friends, family and colleagues. We also have a comments page which will hopefully grow, built on the groundswell of support generated in recent weeks.
Ideas and suggestions can be emailed using the addresses on the following page.
